Trethtec was created to fill the space between high volume commercial pentesting and red teaming. We believe that the best penetration tests are the result of great scoping, engaged customers and hands-on consultancy. Technical wizardry is cool, but its nothing without the bedside manner to back it up.

Adam has been hacking since 2014 and founded Trethtec in 2021. A committed generalist, over the years he has hacked into banks, yachts, planes and trains. When he's not working, he enjoys kitesurfing, climbing, sailing and generally being outdoors.

Meet who you'll be working with at Trethtec.
Adam is Trethtec’s Director and a self-taught hacker who founded Trethtec in 2021 to redefine penetration testing through continuous, consultancy-driven security with his flagship service, CounterSOC. When he’s not at the keyboard, he’s out in North Wales kitesurfing, climbing, or exploring the great outdoors.
Vin Maguire, Security Solutions Consultant, specialises in assisting clients with understanding and enhancing their cyber security posture. With over 3 decades in IT and cyber security, he has advised businesses across all sectors. He is passionate about working with clients who will benefit from TrethTec’s unique offering in the cyber security space. Outside work, you’ll find him playing guitar with his band, watching tv, gaming and exploring emerging tech trends.
Working with Trethtec
Trethtec carried out two site visits for us last Winter. I wanted to test the physical security at our core factory facility and our head office and see what the tester could do with a day at each site.
Adam carried out a highly professional assessment of both sites including night and day visits. He sneaked past security guards, compromised our network and extracted information from our staff multiple times at each location. We finally caught him two days after he started with his feet up on our MD’s desk.
During the washup meeting we were provided with an incredibly thorough briefing of findings, photographs, maps and observations. The report we received went far above and beyond what we expected from two days' work and what we had come to expect from other providers.
We had been working with another testing provider who carried out the same test but with a fraction of the results. Other testing providers provided a service more akin to an audit whereas Trethtec demonstrated what a real motivated adversary could achieve.

Security is our business, and we eat our own dog food! We take confidentiality and security very seriously throughout the testing process. All engagements are governed by strict legal agreements, including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), to protect your sensitive information. Our testing is conducted in a controlled manner to minimise disruption, and any data collected is securely stored and handled in compliance with best practices. Only authorised personnel have access to your data, and it is deleted after the engagement unless otherwise agreed.
